APPLiA releases 9th annual Statistical Report on the European home appliance industry

APPLiA, the leading trade association representing home appliance manufacturers in Europe, is launching today the 9th edition of its Statistical Report, providing a comprehensive analysis of the sector's performance, trends, and future outlook. The report offers valuable insights into the industry's role in Europe's economy, its progress in sustainability, and the challenges and opportunities shaping its trajectory.

Key findings:   
  • Innovation in home appliance technologies has driven a 12 Mtoe reduction in energy consumption since 2019
  • Production efficiency has dramatically improved, with reductions in waste (-18%), water (-14%), and energy consumption (-50%)
  • Energy efficiency is up 30% since 2000
  • Over 75% of large home appliances sold in Europe are manufactured in Europe, demonstrating the sector's strong European base
  • Appliance efficiency contributes significantly to household energy savings, reaching 92 Mtoe in 2023
