Joint Letter for a Digitalised EU Single Market

21 trade associations, representing companies across various sectors ranging from manufactured goods to providers of online services, have called on the European Commission to use the upcoming European Product Act to modernise EU product information rules.

Current paper-based requirements and diverging national language obligations can increase costs, complicate compliance and generate unnecessary waste across the Single Market.

Digital delivery can make product information more accessible, multilingual and easier to keep up to date, while reducing administrative burden and resource use.

With the revision of the New Legislative Framework, the European Product Act offers an opportunity to establish a clear and coherent legal basis for digital information across product legislation, aligned with the future Digital Product Passport and retaining physical information where necessary.
