The I4R platform is an easy to use communication tool to help further increase the recycling results in the electrical and electronic sector while reducing compliance cost for both manufacturers and recyclers. Launched in 2018, it enables the exchange of information between producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and recyclers of waste from EEE (WEEE). EEE producers.

Article 15 of Directive 2012/19/EU on WEEE requires EEE producers to provide information free of charge about preparation for re-use and treatment in respect of each type of new EEE placed for the first time on the EU market. The I4R platform allows EEE producers to do so.

Via the platform, users can access data about the presence and location of materials and components that need separate treatment according to the requirements. The information is available at product category level for these 5 categories:

  • Large household appliances
  • Small appliances
  • Cooling and Freezing appliances - temperature exchange equipment
  • IT equipment
  • Screens
