APPLiA is the Association of home appliance manufacturers in Europe. We have 24 Direct Members and National Associations covering 25 countries. APPLiA promotes the industry's mission to increase appliance performance while reducing its impact on the environment. It plays an active role in the fields of sustainability, circular economy, energy efficiency, ecodesign, energy labelling, e-waste, resource management, chemicals, digital economy,  trade, consumer protection, safety and standardisation.

What you’ll do: 

  • Be the main link between the European Institutions and the APPLiA team;
  • Create and maintain a database of relevant EU officials  and other key stakeholders for each dossier in the policy fields relevant for the home appliance sector;
  • Support the team in creating opportunities to meet policymakers for advocacy of industry views and provide political insights on who is best to contact and when;
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date calendar for each relevant legislative dossier and act as a timekeeper for the rest of the team to ensure hotspots and deadlines are considered in policy work;
  • Build a solid and reliable network of contacts in the European Institutions on behalf of APPLiA to gather intelligence and ensure timely access to news and information;
  • Support the team in establishing appropriate advocacy outreach on relevant dossiers;
  • Brief & advise the APPLiA team and membership on relevant general developments in the Institutions eg. upcoming legislative dossiers in the pipeline, appointments of MEP Rapporteurs, EU Presidency objectives, Commission working plans etc. This would include presenting such issues to the APPLiA membership in internal meetings. 

Where you shine: 

  • Good knowledge of the EU institutions and the decision-making process and have ideally completed an internship in one of the EU Institutions;
  • Relevant Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in International or European Affairs, Economics or Political Science;
  • An already established network in the Brussels arena would be considered a strong asset;
  • Good level of general computer literacy: Google Docs, MS Office, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, web-meeting platforms, social platforms; 
  • Full professional proficiency in English (written and oral); knowledge of other European languages would be a strong advantage;
  • You have good analytical, organisational and planning skills. You are able to work on a number or projects simultaneously, managing competing demands and deadlines;
  • You are a good communicator and networker with excellent oral and written skills and are comfortable speaking in public and to groups;
  • You have the ability to build partnerships and alliances with new people and manage relationships positively, constructively and diplomatically. You enjoy starting dynamic and engaging conversations.
